Council Chair chosen as a special envoy to middle east. She will exchange ideas on how to better serve individuals with disabilities, their families and educational professionals.

Council meets to discuss the GDOL/VR OASIS initiative as well as plans for the survey and public hearings. 

JANUARY, 2009

Council Chair meets with Commissioner to discuss and offer assistance to the GDOL/VR OASIS initiative. Council Chair Appointed to serve on OASIS planning committee.

The SRC will sponsor and members will attend the the Georgia Rehabilitation Associate Legislative Seminar and Reception.

Produced the Georgia SRC Annual report.

OCTOBER, 2008

SRC Participated in the Touch the Future Conference in October, 2008. We had a great turn out and a good deal of interest in the activities of the council. Those members who attended the conference had the opportunity to speak with a  number of providers and VR clients.

SEPTEMBER, 2008

SENSORY COMMITTEE: Establishment to better address the issues related to VR services for individuals who are blind and/or deaf/hard hearing.

AUGUST, 2008

Cave Spring, Region 1: The SRC was pleased to find out that their work with the public hearings helped to place attention on the Cave Spring leading to improvements to the property/dorms.

MAY/JUNE 2008

Assisted with the development of the State Plan.

MARCH, 2008

Representatives for the SRC attended the National Rehabilitation Legislative Summit in Washington, DC. The SRC representatives attended the GRA sponsored luncheon at the Capitol and visited the offices of key legislators where they met with state representatives and discussed issues related to the Vocational Rehabilitation Program.
